Tiles, lath & symmetry

Tiles arrived this week (not all of them).  We started lathing the rear of the roof which means the dormers are going up, I don't have pictures of the dormer yet.

Rain & wind!

We had a horrible weekend of rain and wind.  All the tarps end up leaking a little bit and the house was full of buckets and a paddling pool in our room to catch the rain.

Then the wind picked up; I was expecting it from the forecast so I had spent Saturday screwing things down.  It peaked at lunchtime on Sunday with 40 mph gusts which isn't much unless your house is covered in tarps!!  It wasn't fun but the house made it through intact.

Dormer cheeks tested

Rich spent the day building dormer cheeks and we put up one to see if it fitted.  We then realised just how big they are going to be!  It is going to take a lot of window to fill the holes ;-)

The brick archway also came down today so the entrance hall is looking a lot bigger.

Temp stairs in, but not all the way.

They hit a brick wall (soon to be removed) at the top.

Rain cover

I have missed a few pics which Alison should have so I will fill in later. We got 3 trusses up on other side of roof and put in the ridge beam. We were working against the clock as we new we had rain coming on Thursday night.  On Thursday evening my neighbour Peter very kindly helped me cover up with tarps and it did the trick.  On Friday we were able to work inside the tent.

View from camper

This is the view that greeted me when getting out the camper this morning.  The last of the old roof will go today and will be replaced by new trusses.
